The Bioparc is a nonprofit organization that opened its doors to the public in June 1998 after years of sustained effort from the community. The year 2009 marked a turning point for the Bioparc, with the investment of an additional $4 million for facility development and improvement, contributing to the enhancement of the park itself as well as the regional tourist industry. The funding help support construction of a new accommodations complex and new habitats for the park’s animals.
